Community Engagement

Giving Back Through Compassionate Care and Community Pet Efforts

At Kippax Veterinary Hospital, caring for animals extends far beyond our clinic doors. We’re proud to play an active role in both local and remote communities through ongoing community pet efforts, supporting animal welfare, and delivering veterinary care where it’s needed most. From desexing initiatives to remote outreach programs, our team is dedicated to improving the lives of pets and the people who care for them.

Indigenous Dog Health Programs

Caring for Camp Dogs and Cats in Remote Australia

We believe every animal deserves access to quality healthcare, no matter where they live. That’s why we partner with pet charities and community organisations to bring high-quality, ethical, and sustainable veterinary services to areas that need them most.

Kippax Veterinary Hospital is a long-time supporter of remote animal health projects, particularly in the Utopia and Central Desert regions of the Northern Territory. Twice a year, our veterinarians and nurses volunteer their time to travel to these remote communities, delivering essential veterinary care to dogs and cats in partnership with local leaders and animal health organisations.

These not-for-profit projects include:

  • Free or low-cost desexing
  • Parasite control and vaccination
  • Emergency care and wound treatment
  • Community education about animal health and welfare
  • Support for sustainable population management
Working in collaboration with groups like AMRRIC (Animal Management in Rural and Remote Indigenous Communities), we aim to support both animals and their communities through respectful, culturally aware outreach.

Local Outreach & Giving

Closer to home, our team is committed to supporting the Canberra and Holt communities through:
  • Free or discounted pet health services for rescue groups and local shelters
  • Sponsorship of school programs, animal education events, and pet fairs
  • Community fundraising and awareness campaigns for animal welfare causes
  • Education around responsible pet ownership and preventative care

Whether through hands-on care or community awareness, we’re passionate about creating a healthier, more compassionate future for all pets.

Why It Matters

Our community pet efforts reflect our belief that veterinary care should be accessible, compassionate, and community-led. By partnering with pet charities, local organisations, and Indigenous communities, we help create a lasting impact that goes beyond individual treatments.

Whether we’re treating a camp dog in Central Australia or offering a free health check for a local rescue pet, our mission is the same: to provide high-quality veterinary care and support where it’s most needed.
